A 1995 TV remake of the 1943 film. While not entirely a bad film unto itself, and certainly boasting some good production values and a much more realistic approach to depicting the ravages of the desert, as well as featuring some good performances, it's a shot-for-shot remake that brings absolutely nothing new to the table; the dialogue is the same, the characters are the same, even who lives and who dies (and how they die) is identical to the '43 film. One comes away wondering what the point was. |
